THE BOUDOIR BOX

Conceived in the form of a triptych, the portable “tabernacle” conveys Vernon’s philosophy of the boudoir – a ritual and sacred space dedicated to the sexual ceremony.

THE ORIGIN CHAIR

“Marble is the ultimate representation of skin. I dreamt of working with this noble material ever since I visited the quarry of Carrara for the first time in 1990.” – Betony Vernon

THE THETA RIG

On the 28th of September 2017,Vernon’s latest work, the Theta Frequency Session #1 will be presented in the prestigious Salle Dufy of the Musée d’Art moderne de la Ville de Paris. It is the result of over 20 years of research on the effects of constraint and partial or total suspension of the human body and mind. The aim is to induce the Theta Brainwave Frequency state and its benefits via the horizontal suspension of a subject. This is achieved by using leather straps that are attached to a steel and brass structure. As the state of abandonment advances, the subject’s brain begins to emit the Theta Brainwave Frequency, which is also registered during trance, hypnosis, deep meditation, and even orgasm. During the session the body’s electrical impulses will be registered and the sounds will be emitted.

THE THETA RIG is a collapsible steel and brass structure that when assembled measures
3m x 2,25m x 1,50m. It has been developed to allow Betony’s Theta Frequency Session method to travel.

THE BOUDOIR BOX

The Boudoir Box measures 69x33x19 centimeters and a sterling silver locket keeps the collection under lock and key. The Boudoir Box is an exclusive collectors piece. It was initially designed in 2000 and served to transport and display Betony Vernon’s Paradise Found Fine Erotic jewelry and Jewel-Tool collections. Helmut Newton was scheduled to document its existence for The New York Times in 2004 but as a result of his fatal accident, the meeting was cancelled. The Boudoir Box has since become a mysterious object of desire seen by few.

For the first time Betony Vernon unveiled the Boudoir Box to the general public as part of the MEDUSA exhibition. Conceived in the form of a triptych, the portable “tabernacle” conveys Vernon’s philosophy of the boudoir – a ritual and sacred space dedicated to the sexual ceremony. The luxurious, leather bound, Italian hand crafted jewel case is an interface for sensual exploration and contains over 30 Paradise Found Fine Erotic jewels and Jewel-Tools.
